JAMMU, June 21: President of Displaced Kashmiri Sikh Conference (DKSC) Harmohinder Singh has raised his concern towards the plight of 3.5 lakh Sikhs of JKUT.
Talking to reporters here, today he said that Sikhs are being marginalized and their interests are being brushed aside since 1947 when J & K State was attacked by foreign raiders from neighboring country and consequently upon this State annexed with India. Minorities suffered immensely particularly Sikhs lost lives, homes and hearths with high magnitude.
The displaced Sikh community scattered in different parts of the State as refugees along with their Hindu refugee brethren.
Now the Union Government headed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has taken keen interest for implementation of democratic setup as soon as possible after delimitation of constituencies and granting of political reservation to Schedule Tribe community and rotation of already reserved constituencies to Schedule Caste community.
Harmohinder Singh has taken serious note of the Union Government’s decision for not inviting the Sikh community leaders in the forthcoming meeting with all political parties with Prime Minister and Home Minister on political scenario of JKUT. The Central Government must have sent invitation to Sikh leadership of both provinces of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
Sikhs have been treated as non-entity since long by vested interests who are hell bent upon to tarnish the image of Sikh community so that their interests can be jeopardized and to keep them away from corridors of political empowerment since 1947.
Harmohinder Singh has reiterated that four constituencies be reserved for Sikhs in J&K. The Central Government has assured the Sikh community time and again that their genuine demands will be met shortly but unfortunately it and those who are at helm of affairs has not time to heal the wounds of microscopic Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed Prime Minister to create conditions for implementation of Jurisdiction of National Commission for Minorities in J&K before the forthcoming delimitation of constituencies and other rules to be implemented under reorganization of J&K.
He demanded invitation to the Sikh representatives in the talks at New Delhi on June 24.
