RMPS celebrates International Yoga Diwas

JAMMU: R M Public School organized a virtual Yoga Camp to commemorate International Yoga Day.
The event focused on the benefits of yoga on the physical, mental and emotional health of the individual. In the days leading to International Yoga Day, various events were organised by the school. Various yoga exercises were taught to the students of all classes from 1st to 12th. In addition, the students of class 2nd participated in poster-making competition where Lavish Bhat of 2nd A, Samarth Kumar Jangaal of 2nd B, Innayt Malik of 2nd D, Lakshita Verma of 2nd E, Divit Choudhary of 2nd F and Aaradhya of 2nd G won the accolade. Likewise, quiz competition on the theme- yoga was organised for class 7th and 8th. In 7th class, first position was bagged by Blue team (Mehak, Devam and Rahul) while the second position went to Red Team (Daiwik, Mannat Sharma and Smarth), Green Team (Dhanika, Sahajdeep, Mannat Gandotra) and also Pink Team (Navya,Aditi and Prabhgun).
For class 8th, first position was bagged by Blue team (Sarthak Jasmeen and Jaideep), Yellow team (Abhinav, Nirpnder and R. Rinesh) and Green team (Harman, Aarav and Yashika) and second position bagged by Red Team (Adity, Akshra and Omesh)
The camp culminated with virtual Yoga Diwas ceremony in which the students, parents and teachers participated. The chief guest on the occasion was a renowned teacher of yoga Col. Virender Singh Jamwal, Executive Member, Bharatiya Yog Sansthan.
The programme commenced with traditional lamp lighting ceremony. The Principal of the School, Shuchita Gupta welcomed Col. Singh. She talked about the benefits of yoga in her address. In her words, she said, “Yoga is Like Music. The Rhythm of the Body, The Melody of the Mind and Harmony of the Soul Creates the Symphony of Life.”
Col. Virender gave a presentation on Yoga Diwas. He talked in detail not only about the benefits of yogic exercises but also about how these exercises can become a part of our lives and help in strengthening us physically, emotionally and mentally. This was followed by the demonstration of some basic yogic kriyas. The Director, Principal, teachers, students and parents who were keen to learn the exercises, zealously participated in the programme.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Director, Rakshin Mengi. He thanked Col Virender Singh Jamwal for taking time out of his busy schedule to teach yoga to RMPians.
He was also happy to see the exuberance of students, parents and teachers alike in making the programme a success. He quoted Shrimad Bhagwad Gita, saying that “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self which we all must undertake.”
