The action taken by the government against those employees having terror links is the befitting response as none of those who are involved in such heinous crimes should be spared. There is no need to take a lenient view in such cases as zero tolerance against terrorism should be the policy of the government and not only termination from the job but stringent legal action must also follow in such cases which are more dangerous than the ordinary terrorists as these persons can cause much more harm to the country. Reportedly, in continuation with the earlier actions, the Jammu and Kashmir Government terminated five more government employees under provision 311(2)(C) of the Constitution for having terror links. Those terminated this time include two police constables, computer operator, teacher and a nursing orderly. Earlier government had sacked 17 employees on similar charges on two separate occasions. The government sacked six of its employees for allegedly having terror links and working as over ground workers in September last year. The government took the steps after a designated committee in the Union Territory mandated to scrutinize cases under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution recommended the removal of the six employees from government service over terror links. This provision gives the government the power to sack employees without an inquiry if the President or the Governor, as the case may be, is satisfied that in the interest of the security of the State, it is not expedient to hold such inquiry. It is pertinent to mention that instructions issued by the General Administration Department, every government employee is mandatorily required to maintain absolute integrity, honesty and allegiance to the Union of India and its Constitution and not do anything that is unbecoming of a government servant. In July last year, the government had also dismissed 11 of its employees, including sons of Hizbul Mujahideen Chief Syed Salahuddin and two from the Police Department, for allegedly working as Over Ground Workers for terrorist organizations. The government has precisely taken the right path in teaching a befitting lesson to these enemies of peace and it should be ensured that none should be spared for choosing this path against the country.
