JAMMU: Commissioner Secretary, Hospitality & Protocol, Talat Parvez Rohella, on Saturday inspected various ongoing civil works of Hospitality and Protocol Jammu Division.
Commissioner Secretary had a comprehensive review of work on expansion of Circuit House, Jammu, at a cost of Rs 660 lakh which is expected to be completed by the end of July this year, He also assessed the pace of progress on expansion of Guest House Jammu being executed with a cost of Rs 1205.02 lakh.
Rohella emphasized the importance of stage wise monitoring of all the projects with focus on time bar and implementation through Contract Management Software. He also stressed upon quality control for each component with better coordination between indenting department and engineering department. He asked the Electrical Engineering wing to ensure use of quality wires, switches and other items with proper provision of UPS and genset.
He exhorted upon the officers to explore possibility of maintenance of these electronic items through AMC from the same approved contractor who has installed these for a period of at least one year over and above the defect liability period. He advised the engineering department for timely floating of lift tenders after ensuring the requisite permissions have been sought from concerned authorities.
Commissioner Secretary also stressed upon simultaneously working on landscaping keeping in mind the quality and type of trees, plants, shrubs to enhance the ambience of the assets. He asked for making all the buildings compatible to specially-abled persons.
Later, Commissioner Secretary along with officers of H&P and executing agencies visited the construction sites and reviewed the ongoing projects. He issued on spot directions for sharing the contract agreements executed by the R&B department and the component wise status of the items and works for which tenders have been floated with the Hospitality officers so that proper monitoring is done.
Meanwhile, he visited the existing Guest House and Circuit House Jammu and took stock of facilities available there. He stressed upon improving the service standards with periodic capacity building of the staff besides documenting of best practices for others to learn and assimilate. He also asked for preparing a schedule for termite control, pest control so that the assets of the department are maintained in the best condition and finest service output is guaranteed.
Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by Special Secretary Hospitality & Protocol, Pawan Rathore, Joint Director Hospitality & Protocol, Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) and field officers as well as engineering team of Electrical Division.
