DC Rajouri chairs maiden meet of water conservation club

RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan on Monday chaired a meeting of the water conservation club to discuss with them the strategy for effective conservation and management of the water resources in the district.
Among the others, ADDC, Pawan Kumar; ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Behnal; ADC Nowshera, Sukhdev Singh Sambayal; ADC Kalakote, Krishan Lal; ADC Koteranka, Surinder Mohan Sharma; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ACR, Tahir Mustafa Malik; AC Defence, Saleem Qureshi; DFO Nowshera, Suresh Manda, DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; CAO, Shabana Azmin; WWO, Women Welfare Officer, Dr Anum Mirza; besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Tehsildars to identify all the defunct hand pumps in their respective tehsils and submit the report in this regard in the shortest possible time so that these can be repaired timely to mitigate the sufferings of the common masses.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officers to disseminate the message of water conservation in the public, especially the womenfolk in the rural areas as women are the most sufferers in times of water scarcity.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress concerning the E-registration of the women with the water conservation club.
The concerned officer informed that as many as 2500 women have been registered as of now and the process is on.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officer to speed up the process of registration and generate mass awareness among the common masses about the importance of fresh water and the ways to preserve it.
The Forest Department was asked to carry out massive plantation drives to enhance the green cover in the district.
The concerned officers were also asked to formulate a suitable plan for the overall development and welfare of the youth in the district.
The meeting decided to constitute youth clubs in each Panchayat for addressing water conservation-related issues, concerns of the local youth and disseminating necessary information among the masses about various welfare schemes and programmes being implemented by different departments in the district.
