Sample surveillance of edible oils by Food & Drug Administration concludes

JAMMU: Surveillance Campaign on Adulteration of Edible Oils launched on the directions of FSSAI across UT J&K including Jammu division ended successfully here on Sunday.
The Department lifted 84 surveillance samples across the length and breadth of the Division and the same were sent to Designated Notified lab for analysis under FSSA.
The Food Safety regulators including enforcement staff in Jammu Division fastened up the activities of Surveillance and lifted surveillance samples of Edible Oils of different brands and categories.
Keeping in view the importance of the drive and the directions issued there under, the campaign emphasized on to put up a Food Testing System for developing a robust Food Safety Ecosystem.
The Authorities concerned stated that the drive will strengthen the foundation for well functioning of credible Food Safety System. During the drive, the teams of Enforcement Officers including Designating Officers, Food Safety Officers and Staff conducted inspections of different business outlets which reflected an output to improve the quality of Edible Oils, the authorities said. They said a lot more was to be done in the capacity building of Enforcement and emphasized on the need to expand the surveillance activities.
It is pertinent to mention that during the drive, all the Food Business Operators were imparted with the directions to follow the guidelines under the provisions of FSSA and directions made there under. This drive will contribute to socio economic growth in the state and provide safe edible oil to the consumer and create a better environment in the business fraternity.
While addressing the press conference, Madan Magotra Deputy Commissioner Food Safety Jammu briefed the media persons about the drive and functioning of the Food Safety Department.
