Post Aug 5, 2019 J&K got pro-people Government: Chugh

STATE TIMES NEWS

JAMMU: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday said that post August 5, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir got pro-people administration which steered the Union Territory to a new era of peace, with democracy flourishing at grass roots level, economic activities gaining momentum and infrastructural development witnessing unprecedented impetus.
In a media interaction, Chugh referred to the successful elections to Panchayats, Block and District Development Councils besides local bodies. Over 22 lakh electors exercised their democratic right in choosing 280 representatives in the UT for the prestigious District Development Councils.
He said that some people were working under an agenda to tarnish the image of the country and the sagacious people are seeing through their nefarious game-plan. Those raising fingers forget that normalcy is fast dawning in the Valley which is discernible from the fact that a record number of tourists visited the Union Territory last year. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, over 150 central laws have been extended to Jammu and Kashmir, granting rights to women, scheduled caste, scheduled tribes and other under-privileged segments of the society, he added.
Tarun Chugh, who is also BJP incharge for Jammu and Kashmir, while replying to a question about freedom of media in the Union Territory, also dwelt upon the changing scenario in the Valley, saying hotels, lodges and stay home facilities are witnessing full occupancy. The UT has become Tourism Capital, he added.
“Jammu and Kashmir is free from anarchy, curfew culture and rampant corruption”, he said, adding that some people can’t reconcile with the changed situation.
On accusations that fears of Indo-Pak war have increased, Tarun Chugh said India is fully committed to defending the integrity and sovereignty of the nation. He decried some agencies and associations for working on an anti-India agenda being promoted by people like George Soros.
To a question about the allegations being leveled by KCR’s daughter K Kavita and Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP about being pressurized by the investigating agencies, Tarun Chugh advised them to cooperate with the probing bodies. He said IPC does not bar some families and individuals not to face probe for their acts of omission and commission. He said the BJP has zero tolerance against corruption.
On AAP protests in Delhi, Chugh said its leaders owe answers to the questions who has exposed the national capital to massive liquor vends.
