Patwaris defer strike, give month’s time to Govt

JAMMU: After observing pen down strike for ten-days, the Patwaris on Saturday called-off the strike following the assurances from the government that all their pending demands will be looked in priority.
The members of All J&K Patwar Association decided to called off strike for one month and said if government won’t fulfill demands in one month, they will again go on strike.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Administrative Secretary, Revenue Department, Union Territory of J&K in his office chambers at Civil Secretariat, here with the All J&K Patwar Association to discuss the pending demands of the field revenue officials.
Special Secretary, Revenue Department, Additional Secretary, Revenue Department and Additional Secretary, Revenue Department were present in the meeting while the representatives of the J&K Patwar Association headed by Abdul Majeed Malla, President also attended the meeting through virtual mode.
The demands put forth before the Administrative Secretary, Revenue Department were enhancement of Grade Pay of Patwaries from Rs.2400 to Rs.2800; enhancement of promotion quota for in-service candidates to the Post of Naib Tehsildars as 75:25; creation of GQ Circles and rationalization of Patwar Halqa; adjustment of newly promoted Girdawars DPC conducted in 1st September, 2022 and adjustment of Displaced GQs to their parent districts; timely DPC of Patwaries and GOs; maintenance/updation of seniority list of GQs in Jammu Division; enhancement of Allowances for Patwaries and GQs; renovation of Patwar Khanas and infrastructure thereof.
After detailed deliberation, the issues were discussed threadbare with the Administrative Secretary, Revenue and Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir (in virtual mode).
The officers conveyed to the striking employees that the strike of such nature effects the public delivery system and exhorts for the immediate calling off the strike.
Administrative Secretary, Revenue assured the leadership of the Patwari Association that all the necessary action regarding their pending issues is being examined in the department itself and pursued in the other departments.
Further, it was conveyed to the leadership that all efforts are being made at every level to redress the grievances in the larger interest of the Patwaries and it was further assured that the flagged issues shall also be addressed at high priority.
Accordingly the striking employees were asked to call off their strike in the larger public interest.
