JAMMU: A K Sawhney, President, Jammu Newspapers Editors Guild (JNEG) on Wednesday organised an extraordinary meeting of the guild, which was presided over by Raj Daluja, Editor-in-Chief, STATE TIMES.
After deliberations amongst members of core committee, it was decided that special meeting will be held on 25th June 2021 immediately after high profile meeting of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with J&K’s selected politicians, when outcome and proceedings of meeting are made known.
Sawhney expressed concern for not inviting any member from the Jammu News Papers Editors Guild to the meeting, and condemned apathetic attitude of bureaucracy and dubbing files for months.
He alleged that advertisements are being distributed among favourites while ignoring others. It was demanded that all photo-journalists, field journalists and other journalists working in media must be declared as corona warriors in the Govt. Gazette and in case of death, his family must be given Rs 8 lakh as financial assistance.
Raj Daluja, Chairman of JNEG, said that appropriate decision will be taken on June 25, 2021 followed by press briefing by the Guild after examining the outcome of the proposed All Party Meeting with Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, on 25th June, efforts shall be made to meet Lt Governor to apprise him about arbitrariness and misdeeds of some officers, for declaring them as deadwood and removing from services. The other modalities shall be chalked out on June 25, 2021 by the Guild.
The core committee members, who attending the meeting, include Ram Kumar Dubey, Subash Mehra, Vinod Kumar and Vishal Chopra.
