Apni Party urges Govt to sanction compensation in favour of traders, transporters

JAMMU: Apni Party Trade Union urged Govt that the marginalized section of society, small businessmen and traders should be given compensation as they have suffered financial losses due to COVID-19 situation. Apni Party Trade Union today organised an impressive function at Apni Party’s Gandhi Nagar Office in which District President Jammu Anirudh Vasist was felicitated. General Secretary, Vikram Malhotra said, “Apni Party’s stand vindicated our decision to talk to the central Govt. We have been meeting the Govt. of India since 18th of March, 2020 and we always have the view that the only way forward is to talk to the Govt of India.”
Malhotra appreciated the initiative of Govt of India for inviting leaders of J&K for talks. “It is good that all main-steam political parties have realized the importance of dialogue with the central Government and hoped that the GoI would respond favourably so that things move ahead,” he said.
Meanwhile, Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh, demanded compensation for the marginalized section of society which has suffered badly due to covid19 situation. “The traders, small shopkeepers, transporters, auto-rickshaws, mini-buses, vegetable, fruit vendors, fast food stalls, and different types of kiosks owners should be given financial packages for the losses they suffered in the COVID situation due to lockdown,” he said. He said that the Apni Party stands with the people at the difficult times and will ensure their suffering can be mitigated at the earliest.
President, J&K Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi highlighted issues of the daily wagers, contractual workers and others in his address and urged Govt. to regularize them.
“The daily wagers and others worked round the clock to keep the system working and essential services during COVID-19 lockdown. The Govt must regularize them in recognition of their contribution and years long services to the Govt of Jammu and Kashmir,” Kazmi demanded.
