Dilapidated condition of Akhnoor Court building: DB directs CE Jal Shakti to appear in person tomorrow

JAMMU: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Suresh Kumar and others regarding dilapidated condition of Munsiff Court Akhnoor Building, the Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Sanjay Dhar after hearing Adv Ajay Bakshi appearing for the PIL, on Friday directed that Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Department (Irrigation and Flood Control Wing), shall remain present before the Court tomorrow.

It is worthwhile to mention that on March 19, 2021 Chief Justice of J&K High Court during his visit to the irrigation guest house Akhnoor which was declared as Munsiff Court Akhnoor had given direction on spot for the creation of fabric infrastructure like pre-fabric sheds of Advocates, litigants, two bathrooms, covering of varandha into room for mal-khana and for accommodating prosecution wing and the direction was issued to the chief engineer Jal Shakti Department and the same was not complied till date. On this Division Bench directed the Chief Engineer Jal Shakti to appear before the bench and explain the position.
