DCC Jammu (U) condoles demise of Virbhadra Singh

JAMMU: District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) on Thursday Condoled the passing away of Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
The senior Congress leader died, aged 87, in Shimla in the early hours of Thursday after a prolonged illness. The district Congress leaders paid rich tributes and fondly remembered veteran party leader, observing two minutes of silence in his memory.
Former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney, General Secretary PCC & Incharge District President Jammu (U), expressed profound sorrow on the unfortunate demise of the former CM. He recalled him as a stalwart leader in Indian politics who had an exemplary political career and a long list of achievements and accolades to his name. ‘May his kind soul rest in peace’, he said. Virbhadra Singh was a nine-time MLA and five-time MP, who served as CM of Himachal Pradesh for six times. He also remained the leader of Opposition from 1998 to 2003.
During his exemplary political career, he had served as union deputy minister, Tourism and Civil Aviation, minister of state for industries, union minister of steel and Union Minister of micro, small & medium enterprises (MSME).
District Congress leaders expressed deepest sympathies with the family and loved ones of the leader and prayed for the bereaved family to bear this immense loss with strength and courage.
“The entire rank and file of DCC shares the grief with the family and the country. He will always be remembered with sincerest reverence and gratitude. He was a great leader and his legacy deserves to be honoured,” Sawhney added.
