JAMMU: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta has asserted that Doctors and other medical staff deserve full kudos for going beyond the call of duty during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He stated this while addressing a gathering during a function to felicitate the medical fraternity of Primary Health Centre (PHC) Shastri Nagar here today.
Those felicitated include Dr Gurmeet Kour, MD, Ayush; Dr Ila Gupta, In-charge Medical Officer; Dr Poonam Sharma, Dental Surgeon; Omesh Sharma Senior Pharmacist; Saurabh Sharma, Junior Pharmacist; Arti Choudhary, JSN; Bharti Banotra, Lab Technician; Mandeep Singh, Data Operator; Dixit, Data Operator; Surinder Kour, FMHW; Jyoti, FMHW; Neelam Kumari, ASHA worker; Sunita Devi, ASHA worker and Babu Ram Helper for their selfless services towards the society.
Expressing his gratitude to doctors and other medical staff, the former Deputy Chief Minister said that the selfless services rendered by them amid COVID-19 by risking their lives treating infected patients, is the humanitarian service of the highest order.
He said that the doctors along with their paramedical counterparts went beyond their call of duty in tough Covid times for which the nation is deeply indebted to these professionals who are the real angels and next to God in such pandemic situations.
Hats off to the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers because of whom the loss of lives due to COVID-19 could have been much higher, he asserted. He said that it is only because of the humanitarian endeavour of this fraternity that India succeeded in keeping the situation under control across the nation. The doctors and health fraternity of J&K deserve full kudos as they succeeded in coming out as one of the best performers in controlling COVID-19 pandemic during the first as well as the second wave.
Later, Kavinder Gupta also inspected the ongoing vaccination drive for the people of the area at PHC Shastri Nagar. While interacting with the people, he asked the people to get vaccinated at the earliest as it is the only way to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and resultant fatalities.
Prominent among others present during the function were Corporator Pawan Singh, Narender Gupta Koki, Bharat Bhushan Mandal President, Naveen Gupta, Uttam Singh, Pawan Singh Chib and Vishal Singh.
