Ramban: Despite torrential rains Vehicular movement restored on Jammu-Srinagar NHW-44 after remaining closed for 3 days due to massive landslide at Magerkote area in Ramsoo of Ramban District on Friday evening.
According to SSP Traffic NHW-44 Ramban Shabir Ahmed, the traffic of LMVs from Srinagar towards Jammu has been allowed on Monday morning to move on Jammu-Srinagar NHW-44. He informed that since morning more than 8500 HMVs and 2500 LMVs have been cleared from Jawahar Tunnel towards Jammu. Beside vehicles with emergencies were also cleared from opposite side.
Meanwhile due to fresh landslides and shooting stones at several places between Ramban-Banihal stretch triggered by torrential rains blocked the highway again but authorities cleared them and resumed traffic again.
According to SSP Traffic NHW-44 Ramban there was heavy jam at Banihal, Sherbibi, Ramban and Chanderkote areas of Ramban District. However according to Traffic police headquarters advisory said that subject to fair weather and better road condition, only one way traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar on Jammu-Srinagar NHW-44. TCU Jammu shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic. The advisory reads that the cut-off timing for LMVs from Nagrota (Jammu) is 0600 hrs to 1200 hrs, from Jakheni (Udhampur) 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs. No Vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timing. Subject to fair weather and good road condition, HMVs shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after assessing the traffic situation on NHW-44. TCU Udhampur shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs.
