JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Vice President, Yudhvir Sethi on Monday asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation authorities to take concrete measures in order to permanently resolve the water logging problem in Bikram Chowk area so that people feel respite during the rainy season in future.
The senior BJP leader passed on these directions to the JMC officials who accompanied him during his visit to the area. Sethi was taking stock of the problems being faced by people of the area due to incessant rain this morning as a result of which water inundated even the residential areas and got logged in their homes.
Narinder Singh, Chairman Public Health and Sanitation JMC; Sunil Sharma, Convenor Sports Cell BJP J&K UT; Swaran Singh, Convenor Ward No: 19; Suman Bala, Mahila Morcha East Mandal Secretary, senior BJP leader S Gurcharan Singh and Rohit accompanied Yudhvir Sethi.
While interacting with the people, Sethi was apprised by them that the main reason of water logging in the area was non-functioning of the installed water pumps.
Expressing resentment against the officials of JMC and Irrigation Department for not showing their serious concern towards the recurring problems of the people which they have to face every year on account of incessant rains and flash floods, Sethi took up the matter with the officials of Irrigation Department telephonically and asked them to immediately repair the motors and water pumps in the area so that the water logged inside people’s homes is removed at the earliest.
He impressed upon the JMC officials to formulate a result oriented plan and proceed with the requisite measures to resolve the problem of water logging in this area once for all.
