
Drugs addiction has become a big social problem, which both the Government and society are confronted with. Drug menace is a great health hazard and those who are addicted to it suffer health problems and financial constraints. Taking drugs is morally and socially undesirable as such we should abstain from such an unhealthy practice. The drug addiction is an anti-social and anti-human activity and as such necessary measures should be taken to eliminate the menace for benefit of the society. It is not that there are no laws to deal with the issue but strict implementation of the laws for overall good of the society is required at present hour. Addiction to drugs affects health of youth and others consuming it. It ends one’s individual and family life completely. Therefore we should fight menace of drugs by imparting education and awareness among people in general and youth in particular. So, awareness and education campaign should be continuously undertaken to break bone of the menace for overall good of the society. Looking at the bad affects of drugs, we should abstain from such anti-social habit for own and societal good. Usage of drugs makes one’s life hell as drug-addict becomes a burden on society. We should educate the masses about bad effects of the drugs. We should not hate drug addicts as it is not their fault but initiate every action against the menace. Only government cannot fight the menace of drugs but society and NGOs should supplement the governmental efforts of de-addiction in every possible way. De-addiction is an answer to the problem which has assumed gigantic proportions. Government should open more and more de-addiction centres to enroll alcohol addicts in these centres. Society should also open de-addiction centres to supplement Governmental efforts. Apart from de-addiction centres, counselling centres should also be opened for carrying out proper counseling of drug addicts so that they may not again fall prey to the menace. These centres can fight the problem of drug menace to great extent. These centres should provide awareness and education to addicts so that they shun these bad and anti-social habits. Along with these centres the government should strictly implement narcotic and psychotropic substances act and ensure that people are restrained from use of drugs, as it affects both psychical as well as mental health of victim. We should not fall prey to such anti-social habits and practices and extend all possible help to the Government in fighting the drug menace, by holding education and awareness campaigns. Street-plays, anti drug rallies, interactions etc should be conducted highlighting ill effects of drugs for the larger interest of people. The education department and the health department should take the initiative of imparting knowledge about the ill effects of drugs among students. These departments of the government should jointly fight this menace for the good of the society. Along with the education and awareness, the de-addiction and counselling centres should play also participate in de-addiction drive against drugs for welfare of people who have fallen prey to the deadly menace. Religious preachers can also play their part in de-addiction efforts in their own way. Usage of drugs has also been prohibited by all religions, as such religious preachers should impart awareness among people regarding ill-effects of drugs. The addiction of the drugs is so bad that sometimes it can break marriages and familes. The addiction of drugs destroys physical, mental, social as well as family life. As such, all of us should take the lead and contribute in fighting the problem for individual and social good. Problem of the drug menace can be fought by effective de-addiction drive and counselling besides strict implementation of laws.
