JAMMU: Sportspersons staged a protest at M A Stadium, Jammu against delay in framing sports policy for Jammu & Kashmir and recruitment under SRO-349.
While interacting with media, the protesters said that JK-UT Government failed to frame a new sports policy in committed time-period. From past 7 years, International/National Medalists are suffering and didn’t get any job under SRO-349, they added.
The protesters further said that if they would be residents of some other State, they would have got prestigious Government posts according to sports policy of that state. “Unfortunately, we are citizens of Jammu & Kashmir UT, which has no sports policy so far,” they said, adding that since 2014, Sports Council has not recruited a single person under SRO-349.
They urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and issue necessary instruction to Sports Council for resolving the issue at the earliest. Those present in the protest included Arvind Satti, Padam Dev Singh, Rajinder Singh, Sachin Jamwal, Anchal Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Vipan Gupta, Haqeek Ahmed, Mohd . Tariq, Jasbir Singh, Ajay Slathia, Vipan Chib, Rashmi, Naina, Monica Sharma, Dushyant, Gurcharan Singh, Vansh Mahajan, Vasu , Parul Mehra, Kanchan, Rohit Thakyal, Sandeep Chib, Asad Sharma, Ankush Gupta and Vijay.
