KUPWARA: District Kupwara Volleyball Championship being organised by Volleyball Association of Kupwara under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir commenced at High School Chogal, here on Tuesday.
The championship in which a total of 12 teams including eight boys and four girls are participating is being sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
Today’s results
BOYS: Tanghdar beat Green Sports Villagam 2-0 (25-21, 25-19); Rajwar beat Kachloo Langate 2-0 (25-20, 25-19); Nutnussa beat Magam 2-0 (25-21, 25-24).
GIRLS: Handwara Reds beat Lolab Volleyball Club 2-0 (25-19, 25-21); and Kandi Nutnussa beat Magam 2-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-22).
Earlier, the championship was declared open by the Chief Guest, Haji Farooq Mir, DDC Vice Chairman in presence of Special Guest, Mohd Tariq Khan, Joint Secretary Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir. Other prominent persons present were DDC member Handwara Mir Suleiman, Maj. Nittan, Sarpanch Faiz Ahmed Khan, Khizar Mohd Incharge Sports Council Kupwara, Headmaster Mohd Yousaf and Gurdev Singh Secretary Kupwara and SHO Handwara.
