JAMMU: Jammu United shall be playing against Churchill Brothers in the final of the Ist Mehar Singh Veteran Football Tournament, organised by Young Heros Club and sponsored by the Baba Tour and Travels, at GGM Science College ground, here on August 1 at 6:00 PM.
In the semifinals, decided yesterday, Jammu United defeated Vijay Club 5-3. Kuljeet Singh netted two goals while Vivek Thapa, Shashi Kumar and Sourav Sawarbal were other scorers from the winning side.
Similarly, in other semifinal, Churchill Brothers trounced Allianz Football Club 8-4. Moon Stephen remained in limelight and scored most of the five goals while Eliza Sotra netted two for winners Churchill Brothers.
Former footballer and sports enthusiast, Assistant Commissioner, Rakesh Dubey was the Chief Guest, who interacted with the participating teams.
Earlier, the special guest was received by Balbir Singh Baba, Amarjeet Singh of Baba Tour and Travels, Rajesh Sumbria and Deepak Gupta.
