Sikh organisations seek rolling back of farm laws

JAMMU: A meeting of various Sikh organizations was held under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh, Chief Organiser, Bhai Kanaiya Nishkam Sewa Society Jammu, wherein participants appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister for Agriculture, Narender Tomer to roll back newly introduced three farm laws as same are anti-farmer. Mohinder Singh said that farmers are protesting for last more than eight months at Delhi border and other places and have now installed their own Parliament at Jantar Mantar, mere 200 yards away from Parliament House. He further said that more than 500 farmers have sacrificed their lives during the struggle daring biting cold, scorching heat and rains.
The Sikh organisations urged the Government of India to sanction Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia each to next kin of every deceased farmer along with a job to one family member. New laws will have a devastating impact on farmers’ livelihood especially on small and marginal farmers, who are being pushed towards poverty, he said, demanding revocation of farm laws at the earliest.
Other Sikh leaders who spoke on the occasion included Darbinder Singh, Rajinder Singh, Raja Singh and Ravinder Singh.
