PHDCCI holds webinar on logistics development

JAMMU: Entire J&K will be connected with rest of country with all-weather roads, rail and air connectivity, with regular International and domestic flights. It was stated during a webinar held on ‘Integrated development of Logistics in J&K’, organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI) J&K on Friday. Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Principal Secretary, I&C Department was the Chief Guest during the virtual event attended by a number of dignitaries, businessmen and members of PHDCCI including Pradeep Multani, Rahul Sahai, Vipin Vohra, Baldev Singh Raina, Amarjit Kukreja, Sanjay Aggarwal, Kuldeep Gupta, Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, Rakesh Wazir, Arun Gupta, Neeraj Anand, Manish Khandelwal, Vikram Mahajan and Samar Dev Singh Charak.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjan Prakash Thakur said that works happening in logistic infrastructure development of J&K with major process reforms with deemed approval timelines under Best Single Window clearance system are coming up in J&K with two inland container depots and Dry ports, each in Jammu and Srinagar. Talking about challenges and issues faced by warehousing and logistic hub Transport Nagar Jammu, he informed that the department is well aware of the same and he would visit the area for future possibility for its development as Logistic Hub of J&K. He assured the PHDCCI that he is working at forefront with special assignments with focus on larger issues.
Rahul Sahai Chair PHDCCI Jammu, mentioned that there is a need for better roads and illumination systems; improvement of sanitation and overall improvement and development of Transport Nagar.
Pradeep Multani, Sr Vice President PHDCCI deliberated about the importance of the logistics sector for J&K and lauded UT Government for development of the sector.
Vipin Vohra, Co-Chair Logistics Committee PHDCCI mentioned that logistics play an important role for development of a region. He further stated that development of cold storage, ware houses, pack houses, Sort houses and Air freight stations etc are essential to develop logistic sector.
Arun Gupta, President Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu and Neeraj Anand National Vice President CAIT talked about sufferings of people of Transport Nagar.
Rakesh Wazir, Baldev Singh Raina, Chair PHDCCI Kashmir and Mushtaq Ahamd Chaya Mentor PHDCCI Kashmir also spoke on the occasion. The event was attended by more than 200 industry stalwarts across the J&K and all panelists set forth various suggestions for overall development of logistic and industrial sector of J&K.
