Importance of plantation and afforestation globally

The plantation of trees must be as much as the population of that area as the trees are considered as laboratory of oxygen. Only and only then we could be able to be saved from the bloody clutches of the most powerful nature. Since the inception of the onset of the monsoon we have been experiencing destruction, large scale devastation by torrential rains along with fatal attacks of lightning and cloud bursting.
Undoubtedly, the torrential rains continuously have been affecting many parts of the countries of the world like US, UK, China, Bangladesh including India in the manifestations of landslides in the mountainous areas and erosion of fertile lands in the plains along with crops sown on the agricultural fields have also been met with destructively. Precious human lives and animals have also been washed away with fury of flash floods. Lakhs of people have been rendered homeless and their rehabilitation would be a greater challenges before the governments despite being deadly threats of COVID-19 on coming third wave.
All this has happened with the mass axing of trees and clearance of forest cover on account of development by the human beings. The crores of trees already planted have been axed instead of planting afresh in place of them.
What is the fun of this vast development if we lack oxygen due to their clearance. Oxygen we get from the trees is more important than this fast development. Moreover environment, ecosystem, greenery etc . all this get disturbed and also lopsided.
We must plant more and more trees because trees include the planet’s largest and long living organisms on land . They not only enrich our environment but are also vital to the sustenance of life on our Mother Earth. To know more importance of these unsung heroes of our environment which are the saviour of precious lives of all living beings is also commendable.
Trees absorb atmospheric carbon-dioxide in a process called photosynthesis and release oxygen, an element critical for the survival of all living things. In one year, an average tree exhales enough for a family of four for a year. Leaves filter the air we breathe by removing dust particles. Rain then washes the pollutants such as ozone, carbon-monoxide and sulphur dioxide .
Trees play a major role in controlling soil erosion. They also play a crucial role in the improvement of soil productivity, protection and conservation of water supplies and prevention of floods cause the destruction of houses , loss of human lives and animals. Trees alter the environment in which we live by moderating climate and improving air quality. Trees also prevent desertification and protect coastal areas of the countries. Trees give us shade and act as a living screen to protect us from wind as well as unwanted noise. Trees provide shelter and shade to numerous species. Housing upto 90% of known terrestrial species, forests are most important repositories of terrestrial biological, bio-diversity.
Recognizing the importance of trees, Wangari Maathai, the winner of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize and a well-known Kenyan environmentalist, said “It’s the little things citizens do. That’s what will make difference. All little thing is planting trees.”
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to make earnest appeal to each and every citizen to kindly take a pledge to plant at least one tree at one place where ever you like to plant. Rainy season is considered to be the appropriate time for plantation of trees as we don’t need to watering to be planted the trees. When we condole over the loss of precious human lives due to fury of nature we feel that only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches. It is the warning of nature to the human beings not to disturb its beautiful environment by mass axing of trees and deforestation as it would cause more global warming, climate changes all over the globe, unseasonal rains and changes in the seasons are the results-rising the level of ocean waters and melting of glaciers and the upheaval being observed with surprise visits of nature these days globally.
