NOWSHERA: A strong protest was held by ASHA workers under the leadership of Santosh Kumari in which the participants demanded salary.
The ASHA workers said that they have been made to perform the general duty shoulder to shoulder with the Government Employees but not a single penny has been paid to them since the date they were engaged as back as 2006. They said that they were deployed in election duty and were given the duty to work as Corona warriors but no salary was paid.
The protesting ASHA workers met the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Nowshera and handed over a memorandum also stating that they also have their families to support.
The ADC assured the protesters that their case will be taken up with the higher authorities.
