The programme was organised by PCC Member Satish Sharma. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Gurmeet Kour, Sarpanch Shamsher Singh, Block President SS Dutta, Corporators Kamal Singh, Dwarka Choudhary, Pritam Singh, S.Baldev Singh Wazir, Simran Singh Youth Congress leader, Suman Preet Singh, Gautam Sharma, Om Prakash, Gurdass Mal, Nagar Luna, Raju Saini, Neeraj Kumar, Ludermani Sharma, Parshotam Singh, Pinky Singh, Ricky, Gurdeep Singh Kaka, Inderjeet Singh beside others.
Leaders present in the meeting vowed to continue to work for the development and wellbeing of the people with even vigor intensity.
Speaking in the meeting, Raman Bhalla outlined multiple challenges that Jammu and Kashmir faces currently which require government intervention and action.
“Jammu and Kashmir is going through a very critical time in many aspects and only actions, not words, can bring some relief,” he said.
He stated that rising prices of important commodities is a burning issue but what is equally troubling, if not more, is the issue of law and order. The recent drone attacks on Jammu, killings in Srinagar and other terrorists related incidents are highly condemnable and raise serious concerns over the security systems and management by the government, he said.
He said a clear message has gone out that the next government in Jammu and Kashmir will be formed by Congress.
“In such a grim scenario, the role of Congress as a public movement, representing the urges and aspirations of Jammu, Kashmir becomes more pronounced,” Bhalla said and urged the cadre to “realize their crucial responsibilities.”
“The Congress believes in service to the people, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, as they were the real fountainhead of the power. Unmindful of achieving the power, the party cadre has all along dedicated itself to the overall public good in all the regions and sub-regions of Jammu and Kashmir and it will continue to do so in future as well with renewed vigour and commitment”, Bhalla added.
Referring to local issues, Bhalla called for expeditious and time-bound completion of various development projects and implementation of various welfare schemes. He also stressed the need for institutional transparency and responsibility towards people, saying that the government institutions including police were custodians of public interest.
“We hope that the administration, particularly the police will work independently without interference by vested interests”, he maintained.
Ravinder Sharma lauded the resilience of the people in braving odds on development and economic fronts during the past seven years and said their resolute fight democratically will greatly change the scenario.
The process has already begun in the recent elections and the day is not far when people will triumph at the strength of their votes and have a dispensation, which fulfils their urges and aspirations.
