STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A flag hoisting ceremony was organized at the J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) office Jammu which apart from the members of the Sub-Committee JKCA was also attended by the members of the newly appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). The National Flag, BCCI Flag and the JKCA Flag were hoisted atop the pavilion building. The National Flag was hoisted by Brig Anil Gupta (retd) and Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi. BCCI Flag was hoisted by CAC members Abdul Qayoom and Roopali Salathia. The JKCA Flag was hoisted by International Cricketer Mithun Manhas and CAC member Ashwani Gupta. It was intimated by Brig Anil Gupta that the national and JKCA Flags from now onwards will be hoisted daily while the BCCI Flag will be hoisted only when any match is played as per the BCCI schedule. The ex-cricketers present on the occasion became very emotional because for them these flags have lot of sentimental value. They appreciated the initiative taken by the Sub-Committee in hoisting these flags at the JKCA grounds. Mithun Manhas stated that these flags will be hoisted at the Srinagar office as well. Roopali Salathia, while applauding the initiative, said that for the first time, she has felt that the women cricketers are equal stake-holders and also lauded the plans of the Sub-Committee for promotion of women cricket in the UT. Sunil Sethi assured her that efforts are being made to organize an exclusive ground for practice by women cricketers.
