UDHAMPUR: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised officers monthly workshop here today through online mode which was attended by a number of extension officers from the Department of Agriculture of Udhampur distt. The workshop was organised under the guidance of Director Extension, Prof.SK Gupta and Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, Prof.J P Sharma. Dr. Ravinder Singh Soodan, Associate Professor, SKUAST-J briefed the objectives of the workshop.
Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal stressed on the timely management of different diseases and insect-pests in different diseases.
Dr.Dharvender Sharma, Asstt.Prof., SKUAST-J spoke on the management of army worm and stem borer in maize. He also spoke organic treatment of various insects-pests in vegetable crops. Dr.Sachin Gupta, Assoc. Prof., SKUAST-J spoke on various plant diseases management. Dr. Shahid Ahamad, Assoc. Director Research discussed on the extension literature required for the farmers. He emphasized on the literature in local dialect.
Dr.SK Singh, Assoc. Prof., SKUAST-J spoke on the organic management of paddy blast and rhizome rot in ginger.
Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist stressed on the advance horticultural technologies to increase the fruit crop production in the district. Distt. Agriculture Officer, VK Mahajan spoke on doubling the farmers’ income and stressed on the diversified farming. He thanked SKUAST-J scientists for conducting the programme.
During the programme extension officers from the department of agriculture interacted with the scientists and asked various quarries which were answered satisfactorily by the SKUAST-J scientists. Bharti Thusoo, Arun Sambyal and Sukhvir Singh, Subject Matter Specialists(SMSs) from Deptt. Of Agri.,Udhampur were also present during the meeting. Chief Agriculture Oficer, Udhampur Distt. Subash Chander Sharma co-ordinated the programme.
