GDC Nowshera launches plantation drive

NOWSHERA: NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Nowshera along with Deptt. of Sociology organised a plantation drive on Saturday under the convener ship of Prof. Inam Ul Haq and Prof. Rajat Bhardwaj in the college campus. The NSS came up with the plantation drive to instill the values of nurturing nature with teamwork and importance of the environment. The session was inaugurated with the humble Presence of Principal GDC Nowshera Dr. Surinder Kumar and Vinod Sharma a social activist.
The NSS Volunteers planted different saplings of trees including many medicinal plants in the hope for betterment of the society. The event was conducted by following all the SOPs regarding COVID-19. Speaking on the event, Principal of college Dr. Surinder Kumar while appreciating the volunteers for their efforts and teamwork that no matter the situation is, they will always come together for the betterment of the society with the resources they have. He also said that, tree plantation drives are not just something that should be done, instead, it is a necessity and the urgent need of the hour. Plantation drives combat many environmental issues like deforestation, erosion of soil, desertification in semi-arid areas, global warming and hence enhancing the beauty and balance of the environment. Trees absorb harmful gases and emit oxygen resulting in an increase in oxygen supply.
