Investigation of Hit & Run case led to recovery of stolen property worth lakhs, 4 arrested

SOPORE: Police in Sopore has solved burglary cases while investigating a hit & run case and arrested 4 accused persons involved in the crime, besides, stolen property worth lakhs was also recovered from their possession.
As per details, on 1st August 2021, Police station Panzalla received an information that an unknown Maruti Car hit a child namely Hurair Ahmad Dar, son of Hilal Ahmed Dar, resident of Patusa, Rafiabad at Patusa road. The child got injured and was referred to District Hospital Baramulla for treatment. Accordingly, FIR No. 80/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police station Panzalla and investigation started.
During preliminary investigation, officers, using modern techniques including recorded statements of witnesses, were able to seize vehicle Maruti bearing registration number JK01H-7583 involved in crime. Besides, Police also arrested the accused driver identified as Javaid Ahmad Ahangar son of Ali Muhammad Ahangar resident of Bramen Rafiabad on 2nd August 2021.
During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the accused is a habitual thief and is involved in various theft cases in different Police Stations. On questioning, accused disclosed that he along with his other associates namely Haroon Ahmad Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, Khursheed Ahmad Wani @Khwaja Tang, son of Ghulam Ahmad Wani, both residents of Saidpora Sopore have stolen number of vehicles from different places and also looted various shops at Srinagar, Sopore, Baramulla, Handwara, Dangiwacha, Rohama and Nadihal Shrine. During further questioning, it was revealed that they left some stolen vehicles along roadsides due to end of fuel. After strenuous efforts, an accused among the two was arrested while as Khursheed Ahmad Wani is still at large. Efforts are on to effect his arrest. On their disclosure, Police recovered a black Santro car, Maruti 800, Hyundai Getz and readymade garments along with luggage of worth Rs 1.5 lakhs approximately.
During further investigation, two more accused persons identified as Prince Fareed Khan, son of Fareed Ahmed Khan, resident of Bremen and Jehangir Ahmad Shiekh @Bubloo, son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh, resident of Sheer Colony Sopore were arrested for their involvement in crime. All accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remained in custody. Further investigation is going on and more recoveries and arrests are expected.
