3 drug peddlers arrested; contraband recovered

BARAMULLA: Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of drug menace from society, Police has arrested 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Behrampora intercepted three persons identified as Qazi Burhan, son of Qazi Ab Hameed; Qazi Asif, son of Qazi Dawood Ahmad, both residents of Qazipora Delina and Imran Ahmad Sofi, son of Ghulam Qadir Sofi, resident of Rawathpora Delina. During checking, officers were able to recover 5 Kg Poppy straw and 3 grams Brown sugar from their possession. They were arrested and shifted to police station where they remained in custody.
Similarly, acting on specific information regarding the drug peddling, a Police party of Police Station Sheeri under supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla recovered 40 Kg of Poppy Straw from house of Ghulam Nabi Dar, son of Mohd Shafi Dar, resident of Paliharan Sheeri. However, accused is absconding and efforts are on to effect his arrest. Accordingly, police has registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police station and started investigation.
