STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: NABARD Regional Office Jammu celebrated National Handloom Day at Basholi. DDM NABARD Amit Kumar, LDM Kathua Farooq Qazi, FLC SBI Subash Chander, KYASC Society MD, Krishan Kumar, officials from Handloom Department and weavers from various societies were present. During the programme, Zakir Hussain and Rahul Kumar highlighted the problems faced by weavers in current time. Afterwards, LDM Kathua Farooq Qazi discussed the various loan schemes for handloom sector and urged weavers to take benefits of all. Later on DDM Nabard discussed the various schemes implemented by the NABARD in off farm sector. He highlighted the why it is important to promote off farm sector in the current context of the pressing need of reducing rural Indians over dependence on agriculture by providing alternate livelihood options. He further discussed various promotional schemes like exhibitions, melas, rural hart rural mart , GI Tagging being implemented by the NABARD. In the end weavers were facilitated for their contribution in the handloom sector.
