JAMMU: President, Shri Ram Sena (SRS), Jammu and Kashmir, Rajiv Mahajan on Tuesday expressed gratitude towards Chamber of Commerce & Industries (CCI) Jammu for raising issues of Mahajans, Khatris and Sikhs, who have been deprived of their rights to sell and purchasing land in J&K UT, in front of Advisor to Lt Governor, Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar during a meeting held here.
“With abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019 by Central Government and introduction of New Land laws, a large section of people, including Mahajans, Khatris and Sikhs of the Union Territory been deprived of rights regarding sale and purchase of agriculture land,” said Rajiv while welcoming CCI’s initiative to highlight issue in front of J&K administration. He said that more than 10 lakh Mahajans, over five lakh Khatris and lakhs of Sikhs have been deprived of their fundamental right to buy or sell agricultural land.
Mahajan further asked Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha (JCMS) to wake up from deep slumber and project aforesaid issue in front of government to safeguard future generation. “Government should clear prevailing confusion regarding Khad land as scores of people are suffering in this regard. A number of colonies like Sainik Colony, Chowadhi, Roop Nagar, Greater Kailash etc have been developed in Khad lands and purchasing land legally by occupants. As such, Government should clear its policy over selling and purchase of Khad land,” he asserted.
