JAMMU: The Former Vice President All India Lawyers Union (AILU), Senior Advocate Surinder Kour survived a murderous attack by some miscreants, last night outside her Chamber at Last Morh, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
As per reports, an attacker took a position at a place away from CCTV Camera and attacked the advocate with a sharp-edged weapon, with an aim to kill her due to which she received a cut on shoulder. She was immediately shifted to the Gandhi Nagar hospital where she was given first aid and later referred to GMC Hospital Jammu for specialized treatment. An FIR 233/2021 under section 307 of IPC has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar for investigation. Police constituted a SIT for investigation.
Meanwhile, the J&K Unit of AILU, in an emergency meeting convened here, expressed great anguish over murderous attack on Surinder Kour, Senior Advocate of J&K High Court. During the meeting, presided over by President, All India Lawyers Union, Adv H C Jalmeria, the members condemned the attack and termed it as an attack on her profession. The incident also speaks of vulnerability, the lawyers face while performing duties, they added. Expressing solidarity with lawyer colleague and former vice president of AILU, the participating lawyers asked Police to arrest the culprits immediately. They further asked the Government to provide adequate security cover to Surinder Kour.
Others present on the occasion included Advocates B S Manhas, B L Kalgotra, Roop Lal, K K Pangotra, K M Bhatti, S M Choudhary, M R Qureshi, Amrit Sarin, Anil John, Meharban Singh, B S Jamwal, Teza Singh, B R Sharma, B R Chandan, Bansi Lal Sharma, JP Sharma, Abrar Khan, Kunal Singh Chib, Arvind Singh and Secretary Meharban Singh.
Meanwhile, Chairman Live and Let Live Society of India (LLLSI), Romal Singh and President, Santokh Singh Komal, during a meeting, have also condemned the heinous and inhuman attack on the most honest, sympathetic, efficient, experienced and senior Advocate, Surinder Kour. LLLSI Chairman, President and other office bearers urged Police to take immediate steps to trace out the criminals besides booking them as per law of land. Various other Sikh Organisations in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh Chief Organiser Bhai Kanaiya Nishkam Sewa Society have also condemned murderous assault on senior Advocate Surinder Kour. The participants appealed to the Chief Justice to take up the matter with Director General of Police for urgent action in the matter besides providing security cover to Advocates.
