Team of central health ministry inspects AIIMS

Two MPs also take stock of ongoing works

JAMMU: A team of central health ministry on Friday reviewed the progress of ongoing work on All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) which is under construction at Vijaypur in Samba district.
According to reports, the team which included Jugal Kishor Sharma, Member Parliament (MP) from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency and Jamyang Tsering Namgyal Member Parliament (MP) from Ladakh were part of the team which reached the site this morning and reviewed the progress of the ongoing work.
The officials of the executing agency briefed the team, which consists of more than a dozen members, about the progress of the construction work.
The team also interacted with the officials of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) who briefed the team regarding the ongoing work.
They also briefed the team about the time taken in completion of various blocks of the AIIMS and about the pending work which is going on war footing.
They also briefed the visiting team about the facilities to be provided to the patients after completion of the said health institute besides the facilities being raised which will be provided to the attendants of the patients and the staff of the institute. The team was also briefed regarding the working of the AIIMS.
The visiting team was very impressed after reviewing the status of the work as the construction company Alluwalia Contract India is using the modern machinery in the construction of the AIIMS and the team also inspected the mega machinery which helps in speedy completion of the work with safety and quality.
On the occasion the visiting team also planted saplings in the premises of the AIIMS and later a meeting was conducted in the office of the CPWD where the team was fully briefed regarding all the completed and undergoing work.
Pertinent to mention that the team will inspect the work for consecutive three days so that the discrepancies, if any, would be removed and the work is completed as soon as possible for the commissioning of the premier health institution.
