Absconding notorious drug peddler nabbed

JAMMU: A notorious drug peddler was arrested from Anantnag by a team of Police Station Bahu Fort Jammu on Saturday.
As per details, on September 13, 2010, FIR No. 240/2010 under sections 8/20 of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and two persons namely Nirmal Singh, son of Mohan Singh, resident of Nambal, Mattan and Virinder Gupta, son of Sain Dass Gupta, resident of Muthi, Jammu were arrested and 4 Kg 500 gm Charas was recovered from their possession. After completion of investigation, Challan was produced before the court of law on December 17, 2010.
After completion of trial, Virinder Gupta, son of Sain Dass Gupta, resident of Muthi, Jammu was acquitted by the 1st Addl. Session Judge Jammu whereas Nirmal Singh, son of Mohan Singh, resident of Nambal, Mattan was convicted. Subsequently, several non-bailable warrants were issued by court for the production of accused before the court but warrants could not be executed till July 2021. Finally on July 26, 2021, 1st Addl. Session Judge Jammu gave directions to Jammu Police for production of accused on next date i.e. August 23, 2021. In compliance to it, team of Police Station Bahu Fort under the supervision of SDPO City East Bikram Kumar was constituted. The team led by SHO Bahu Fort Insp Deepak Pathania assisted by PSI Adarsh Thakur after strenuous efforts, raided the suspected location in Kashmir and with the help of native police of concerned area, succeeded in apprehending accused from village Nambal, Mattan. The accused was finally produced before the Court.
