JAMMU/TEHRAN: Indian Under-19 Volleyball team stunned two times African Champion Nigeria in their opening match at the ongoing 2021 FIVB Under-19 Boys World Volleyball Championships being held at Tehran, Iran.
Indian team beat Nigeria by 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 26-24) in the first match of Group A on opening day of the Championships. The Indian players including Blockers Dushant Singh & Jashnoor, attackers Aman & Tanish Chaudhary and Setter & Captain of team Sameer Chaudhary performed excellently under the guidance of Chief Coach Pritam Singh Chauhan.
India has already advanced to the round of 16 as Guatemala was forced to withdraw after several team members were tested positive for COVID-19 and their games were forfeited. Indian U-19 Boys Team will meet Iran at 8:00 PM on August 25. The other teams in Group ‘A’ are host Iran and Poland.
The Indian squad for the tournament comprises Sameer Chaudhary (Captain), Aman Kumar, Harshit Giri, Sandeep, Ajay Kumar, Tanish Choudhary, Joshnoor Dhindsa, Jibin Job, Dushyant Singh, Srinath Selvakumar, Dibyam Shahi, Chikkanna Venu (Libero).
