JAMMU: Accusing the government of adopting double standards in providing security to political party leaders, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) has flayed the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Government for not providing adequate security to the senior Congress leaders visiting different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing media persons here today, Sandeep K Sharma, Spokesperson JKPYC said that despite unabated killing of political leaders across the Jammu and Kashmir, the government has failed to show its serious concern over the issue.
Asserting that the senior Youth Congress leaders of Jammu and Kashmir are working day and night for the welfare of common masses across the length and breadth of the Union Territory especially in the valley amid delicate situation, he expressed strong resentment over the failure of the government to provide adequate security to them. He said that the government is adopting a biased attitude towards opposition parties and this is evident from the fact that there are several lower rung BJP and BJYM leaders having more than adequate security in Jammu and Kashmir.
He castigated the government for adopting double standards and claimed that it is a major security breach for which the Union Territory administration and the Union Govt are squarely responsible.
The JKPYC spokesperson pointing specifically to the Congress Party Sarpanch from Lakimpura in Anantnag, Ajay Pandita who was shot dead by terrorists.
Sandeep Sharma urged the Govt to take serious note of the issue of political killings in Jammu and Kashmir and devise a fool proof strategy for providing adequate security to all the political leaders irrespective of their party affiliations including the senior Youth Congress leaders who visit the valley and other vulnerable areas of this Union Territory.
