Dogra Group of Colleges announces scholarship for COVID orphans/victims for session 2021-22

Constitutes ‘Maluk Law Genius’ & ‘Matushri Gold Medal Awards’

JAMMU: Dedicated to the memory of immortal sons of the Duggar Land, who have been famous for their valour and patriotism, Dogra Educational Trust is committed to keep the beacon of light shining forever through the academic pursuits delivered by Dogra Law College, Dogra College of Education and Dogra Degree College.
The Management of Dogra Educational Trust announced full fee concession for those COVID-19 Orphans/Victims who have lost their parents to COVID Pandemic and have no source of income to pursue their higher education for the academic session 2021-22.
Chairman of Dogra Educational Trust, Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, while interacting with the media, stated that Dogra Law College, Dogra College of Education and Dogra Degree College has now decided to support such children (COVID Orphans/Victims) in getting higher education by providing free-ship to them in all of the 3 Colleges run by the trust. Trust has decided to keep two seats each in BA LL.B 5 Year Course and LL.B 3 Year (Prof.) Course in Dogra Law College, Two seats in B.Ed. Course in Dogra College of Education and one seat each in BBA Course, B.Com. Course and B.A. Course inDogra Degree College, he said adding that at total of nine seats across 6 courses has been allotted for free-ship.
Apart from the above mentioned concessions other facilities which will be provided to such students include study and reading material from the College free of cost viz book bank facility of college Libraries and a set of two uniforms (College), he said adding that free hostel and mess facility for out station students fulfilling the criterion of concessions.
The procedure for admission will begin with the announcement of the aforesaid incentive through advertisement and social media and the seats will be filled up purely on merit basis, he said adding that the eligible students shall have to register themselves for BA LLB 5 Year, LLB 3 Year (Professional) Course and B.Ed Course, students () will have to register their names in the college and then apply online as per the formal admission notification issued by University of Jammu and after final counselling conducted by the University if, the student is selected for Dogra Law College and Dogra College of Education their names will be recommended to the University of Jammu by the College authorities for admission.
Management of Dogra Educational Trust during its Golden Jubilee year in 2016 announced a special package of Rs. 35 Lakh as scholarships and financial assistance to the meritorious and economically weak students studying in Dogra Law College, Dogra College of Education and Dogra Degree College.
Those students who have secured 85% or more marks in the qualifying examination (Class XII Board Exam) in case of degree courses (BBA/ B. COM./ B.A.)& BA LLB, 5 Year Integrated Law Course be granted scholarships of Rs 5000/- after the completion of the first college year.
Those students who have secured 75% or more marks in the qualifying examination (Graduation Level (10+2+3 pattern)) in case of B. Ed., 2 Year Programme& LLB 3 Year (Professional) Course be granted scholarships of Rs 5000/- after the completion of the first college year.
Those students who obtain 75% or more marks in the respective university examination during the course of study are also entitled for scholarships of Rs 5000/- for the respective year of the course only.
Special awards for meritorious final year students of Dogra Group of Colleges University position holders will include 1st Position Rs 10000, 2nd Position Rs 7000 and 3rd Position Rs 5000, Charak said.
Moreover to honour the upcoming ‘Law Genius’ who pass out their 3 years LLB (Professional) course or 5 years B.A. LLB course from the Dogra Law College withoverall 1st position in aggregate in the University of Jammu will be awarded the “Maluk Law Genius Gold Medal Award”.
The award comprising of Gold Medal and cash reward of Rs 15,000 was constituted to pay tributes to proud Dogra Soldier Late Maluk Singh ranked as Subedar of the prestigious 40 Pathan unit who was a native of BassiKalan, Bari Brahmana, awarded “The JangiInaam” by Queen Victoria for his outstanding valour in First World War.
Also to honour the upcoming ‘Teacher Genius’ who completes 2 years B. Ed. Degree Course showing excellent results, in Dogra College of Education and secures an overall 1st Position in the University of Jammu, in aggregate will be awarded “Matushri Gold Medal Award” and cash prize of Rs. 15000 This award was constituted to pay tributes to Lt. Lakhodevi (Matushri) wife of Subedar Maluk Singh.
