JAMMU: The meeting of the workers of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, in which many problems of Chhamb Khour assembly constituency were discussed.
While addressing the meeting of Party worker’s at their residence, he said unemployment and inflation are all time high in India which has pushed people to the verge of starvation where poor are attempting suicides.
Many burning issues were discussed during the day-long meeting by the Congress workers and unanimously passed a resolution for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing the workers, Tara Chand urged upon the Central Government to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with job and land security for the locals.
He said that J&K has witnessed massive destruction during decade’s long turmoil and rising unemployment is a major concern. He urged upon the government to secure jobs of Jammu and Kashmir for local youth.
Tara Chand referred to the massive hike in the price of petrol and diesel which is highest in Last so many Years.
He said that Modi Govt has earned more than 23 lakh crore in seven years out of tax on petrol and diesel.
He said the crude oil in the international market is at 60 USD per barrel while the rates of fuel are highest while during Dr. Manmohan Singh Government it was 110 USD per barrel but rates were lower than today. seeking roll back of the price hike, he said the Modi government is charging high excise duty which is 258 percent higher to UPA in petrol and 820 percent higher in Diesel, which is totally unreasonable.
Tara Chand said that the youth are fed-up with the emotional slogans. They want employment and good education. For a good future in J&K, the elected Government must be in place.
He said that the people have a sense of alienation in J&K and it is high time for the Govt to take a decision for the welfare of the people of J&K as a whole who have always stood like rock for national interest.
Asking BJP to shun rhetoric and stop playing to the galleries, Tara Chand wondered what Jammu got during the past seven years.
A lot of hue and cry is being raised over non-issues without speaking a word about the real issues that have caused immense concern and apprehensions among permanent residents here, particularly with regard to their identity, jobs and lands, he said.
Tara Chand exhorted the party worker’s to remain steadfast in their resolve of serving people and strengthening bonds of inclusiveness.
He complimented the people in general and the party cadre in particular for their commitment to the secular ethos and hoped that this glorious tradition will continue to inspire the generations. He said unity in diversity is the real strength of Jammu and Kashmir. This is what has seen us overcome all the challenges.
Others who attended the meeting include Suram Singh, Jagatar Singh, Dwarkanath, Kalidas, Daljeet Singh, Gautam Sharma, Jagdish Raj Sharma, Madan Lal, Devinder Singh, Santosh Manhas, Bodhraj and Sagar Manhas.
