JAMMU: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jammu organized a Training programme, Kissan Ghosthi and an Exhibition Programme in National Level Campaign on ‘Food and Nutrition’ for farmers at the conference hall in which more than 100 farmers participated.
Prof. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-J was Chief Guest who appreciated the efforts of KVK Jammu for conducting the events pertaining to the benefits of farmers and farming community.
At the outset Dr. Punit Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcomed the Chief Guest, Scientists and farmers. He also explained that the objective behind organizing this event on ‘Food and Nutrition for Farmers’ is to make them aware about the role of nutritive food in improving the health of farming community.
Dr. Arvind Kumar, Assistant professor, Division of LPT, SKUAST-J delivered a lecture on ‘Milk and Meat Products for Balanced Nutrition’.
Dr. Ravneet Kour, Scientist, KVK Jammu, delivered a lecture ‘Use of Kitchen Garden for Healthy Nutrition’, Dr. Pawan Sharma, Scientist, Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu delivered a lecture on ‘Importance of Nutritional Diet for Rural Youth, Farmers and Farm Women’, Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, Scientist, KVK Jammu, delivered a lecture on ‘Nutritional Benefits of Mushroom’.
Dr. Punit Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu, Dr. Ravneet Kour, Scientist Horticulture, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Assistant professor, Division of LPT, Dr. Pawan Sharma, Scientist Agriculture Economics, Dr. Prem Kumar, Scientist Fisheries, and Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, Scientist Plant Protection, Satbir Singh, Programme Assistant also shared their experiences during the farmer scientist interaction.
A quiz competition was also organised for the farmers in which first prize of Knapsack sprayer was won by the women farmer Mamta Devi.
