JAMMU: Senior Advocate Mohinder Kumar Bhardwaj has been elected as President of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu while Mohinder Pal Singh (Palli) got elected as Vice President, Surjeet Andotra as General Secretary, Aditya Shama as Joint Secretary and Amandeep Singh was elected as Treasurer.
As per result of elections to various posts of Bar, which were declared on Sunday night by the Returning Officer Surinder Singh, Senior Advocate Mohinder Kumar Bhardwaj secured 651 votes defeating his rivals K Nirmal Kotwal (421 votes), Ranjit Singh (217 votes) and Ashok Sharma (123 votes), and was elected as new President of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu.
Pertinent to mention here that Senior Advocate Mohinder Kumar Bhardwaj has been elected President for the third time, as earlier also he remained President in during 1999-2000 and 2012 to 2014.
Giving further details, Returning Officer Surinder Singh said that for post of Vice President, Mohinder Pal Singh (Palli) was declared winner with 540 votes against his rivals Gurjeet Singh (224 votes), Rohit Verma (269 votes) and Prem Singh Pawar (321 votes). Mohinder Pal Singh Palli was elected President of Young Lawyers Association in 2003 and remained President YLA for seven years.
Surjeet Singh Andotra secured 563 votes to win the elections for the post of General Secretary defeating his rivals Amit Gupta (536 votes) and Himanshu Sharma (310 votes). Aditya Sharma was elected Joint Secretary by a margin of 12 votes, as he secured 711 votes against his rival Atul Sharma, who got only 699 votes. Further Amandeep Singh secured 806 votes for the post of Treasurer, defeating Sahil Sharma (529 votes).
