KATHUA: Shivam Sharma won the Open boys’ title in the Kathua District Chess Championship organized by Kathua District Chess Association under the aegis of All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA) and sponsored by J&K Sports Council at TDS College, here today.
Second place in this group went to Karam Sambyal while Purav Mahajan remained third and Jatin Gupta finished fourth.
Similarly, in Open girls category, Harsheen Kour won the title trophy while Ridhima Gupta and Jigayasa remained second and third respectively. Mriganka Sangra finished fourth.
In under-14 Boys group, Amandeep Singh secured the title. Raghav Sharma and Bhavesh Singh remained second and third respectively. The under-10 age group, Paras Sharma emerged winner while Udhav Sharma was second and Rajdeep Singh third.
The youngest Chess player of the district trophy went to six-year old, Aanhad Dhillon. Amandeep won second prize.
In total 57 players contested for the top honours in this competition which held under the supervision of president District Association, Ravi Kumar Sharma.
