JAMMU: Shree Vishwakarma Library and Research Centre (SVLARC), New Plots, Jammu on Sunday launched ‘Copy Project’ with the aim to provide free stationery to the BPL/poor students and preparation of database to identify the talent.
The inaugural lot was distributed by special invitees Dr Kanika Sagar Dheman, (Ph.D Nanotechnology), and Brig Vijay Sagar Dhiman, a renowned personality of Jammu. Giving details, Ramesh Angotra (Convener) explained that SVLARC has specially prepared 1000 note books with a cartoon of Dr Ambedkar telling a labour child to stand and study by which he can become a man of dignity. Inside the front cover page, name of former Prime ministers and Presidents have been written and inspirational quotes on the backside of cover. The note books shall be distributed @10 copies to each poor student preferably BPL living in remotest corner.
Raman Chalotra (Vice Chairman) explained the objectives of the Project. He said this “Copy Project” is aimed to help the students who can’t afford stationary and a data base of students for further plans.
Data base shall be used for identification of genius candidates who shall be guided and helped for Civil/Armed/Medical services. All students shall be clubbed on a WhatsApp group. In such group, good teachers shall also be added, so that teacher -student interaction remains at the click of button, he said. Dr Kanika said, “Through whatsapp group, relevant matter shall be posted to motivate and make aware the students. Regular Feedback from students shall help Library to take corrective actions. If 100 students are targeted in one year, the figure shall reach 1000 students in ten years and many of them may pay back and contribute to our mission. Thus Copy project shall sustain and continue.”
About 20 students were given the Note Books @10 copies each, by the Special invitee, Dr Kanika Sagar Dheman, on the day of launch. Some social workers from were also included in the programme so that they witness this project and get motivated to make similar efforts within their own social group. Hope it will bring good results.
