Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav: DYSS holds cleanliness drive

AKHNOOR: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Akhnoor organised a massive cleanliness drive programme on 26th of October 2021 under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’-celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence at Panchayat Devipur of Block Bhalwal Brahmana to aware business persons and locals about the harmful effects of single use plastic and the health benefits of keeping the surroundings neat and clean.
The cleanliness drive was organised under the Chairmanship of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma and under the overall supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer, Akhnoor Tarsem Singh.
The drive was flagged off by Ganesh Dass, Sarpanch Panchayat Devipur, from GHS Devipur and went through the main market of Panchayat Devipur. Ganesh Dutt, Incharge GHS Devipur, Sh. Madan Lal, PEM GHS Devipur, all officials (YS&S Department) of Zone Akhnoor and Volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan were part of the drive. Special focus was laid on the cleanliness of water bodies and removal of waste from road sides.
In the programme, ZPEO said “It is essential for everyone to learn about cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and various diseases that are caused due to poor hygienic conditions.”
“Cleanliness ensures a healthy mind and physique, it is not the responsibility of only one person, rather it is the duty of every countrymen” Sarpanch added.
The locals and residents of Panchayat Devipur appreciated the department for organizing such programmes for the welfare of humanity.
