Declare 100 pc loss of Paddy, vegetable crop due to hailstorm & rains: Sadhotra

JAMMU: Declare 100 per cent loss of paddy and vegetables crop due to heavy hailstorm and rains in Jammu region and 100 per cent compensation/relief to the Kisans, demanded Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, former Minister and Senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Leader while on his tour to see the hailstorm and rain effected fields in Marh Assembly Constituency. While visiting Akalapur, Kanachak, Kalyanpur, Shamachak, Sangrampur, Shehzadpur and Durgochack villages, he said whole of the farmers of Marh Block are victims of total crop loss. He said party workers from Pallanwala, Khour, Akhnoor, R S Pura, Bishnah, Ramgarh, Hiranagar and Kathua have also informed 100 per cent loss of crop.
During the tour, Sadhotra was disappointed to see the total loss of crop of paddy and vegetables.
Harvested paddy is in deep water and standing crop is also lying down in deep water and totally damaged, he said adding that yet administration is to assess the loss of crop.
He said that there is no need to assess as it is totally loss and government should start distributing compensation/relief on war footing after announcing 100 per cent loss of crop.
National Conference leader asked the Govt to give relief/compensation to one and all those who have Kisan Credit Cards or no Kisan Credit Cards.
Moreover those people who have taken land on rent for sowing crop should also be compensated, he said adding that the labourers who were waiting for their labour on harvesting of crop be also compensated. On his tour Sadhotra observed that people are disappointed on the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah as they were expecting that when Kisans of Jammu are in grave trouble due to total loss of crop due to hailstorm and rains Shah will definitely announce relief/compensation but to their utter surprise he even did not mentioned about the loss of crop of Kisans, it is unfortunate he asserted.
