UDHAMPUR: Organised by the Wrestling Association of Jammu and Kashmir, the two-day 27th Men and 13th Women Senior J&K Wrestling Championship got underway at Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu (JU) on the campus on Friday.
The event was declared open by former MLC and veteran politician, Ashok Khajuria in the presence of guest of honour, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Sports. Interacting with the participants, Khajuria encouraged the young talent and wished them success. He was all praise for the organisers for providing wrestlers platform to perform and excel.
Earlier, the guests were welcomed by former international wrestler and SSP with J&K Police, Dushyant Sharma. Also present were Raju Sharma (treasurer), Vijay Pahalwan, Om Parkash, Ravinder Kumar and Anil Kumar.
Jai Bharat has been appointed tournament Director while Sahil Sharma has been made chairman technical committee. The opening day witnessed preliminary rounds of the competition.
