Dear Editor, Through the medium of your esteemed daily, I would like to invite the attention of concerned authorities towards an incident, where a BJP leader and BDC Chairman of Block R S Pura, Tarsem Lal Sharma has publically humiliated and abused former MLA Garu Ram, who is also presently a member of DDC from R S Pura due to his lower caste. Yesterday, a video clip went viral on social media regarding visit of DC Jammu Anshul Garg to assess damages caused to crops due to rains and hailstorm. In the clip, aggrieved Sarpanchs, BDC Chairpersons from R S Pura, Miran Sahib & other DDC Members can be observes informing the District Magistrate regarding extent of damages. In the clip, BDC Chairman from R S Pura Block, Tarsem Lal Sharma, who is also BJP leader, can be seen humiliating and abusing former MLA, Garu Ram by passing derogatory remarks. In video clip, he can be clearly heard and seen abusing publicly a member of SC community, that too in presence of District Magistrate Jammu, Sub-Divisional Magistrate R S Pura and Tehsildar R S Pura. His words were quite derogatory in nature and were deliberately used to humiliate him as he is a member of Scheduled Caste community. It was an intentional attempt to abuse whole Scheduled Caste community as he is representing Scheduled Caste community in present District Development Council of Jammu District. His derogatory words & abuses have hurt sentiments of people belonging to Scheduled caste community. It is as such requested to the concerned authorities to have a serious view over the matter and direct the concerned for registering FIR against him under Section 3 of SC, ST Atrocities Act, 1989, for ‘intentional insult or intimidates with intent to humiliate a member of Scheduled caste at any place within public view,’ besides arresting him to set an example for all those who intentionally abuses & humiliates members of SC, ST, & OBC communities.
