JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member and eminent social activist Raman Suri on Saturday flagged off a contingent of all-girls group to launch their cleanliness drive at Natha Top, Patnitop.
An initiative of ANTS, the acronym for “As Now is the Time to Sustain”, it is a sustainability initiative which works on the idea of pushing the masses towards taking small changes that make big impact and this drive is aimed at creating environmental awareness amongst the locals and tourists who visit such sites but leave trash unattended which causes environmental degradation.
Gian Sharma Co-Convener Aajivan Sehyog Nidhi BJP J&K was also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Raman Suri said that this initiative should set an example for others to follow and not litter at tourist, historic and religious places with non-biodegradable waste. Jammu and Kashmir, he said, is having ample tourism potential and it is only recently that the Government of the Union Territory is conducting mega-cultural events across the regions to involve and promote local talent besides make people feel the pulse of happiness level that is dawning here after the abrogation of Article 370.
Encouraging the all-girls group of ANTS for taking up such a social cause at Natha Top, he hoped that more such events aimed at creating awareness towards our society will be held by the group in weeks to come and will remain a perennial process. He said that women today are leading from the front and this event must send a strong message across the country that impact of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi years ago is being felt on mountains and far off places as well. The contingent comprising of Rubal Mahajan and Deepi Dutt, organisers and their team of elegant eleven including Ritambra Khajuria, Vice President, Climate Front Jammu halted at Udhampur where they were received by ace Cyclist and Director of Happy Model Schol, Dr. Vikram Gulati.
The ANTS members apprised the school students of their initiative and urged them to replicate such events at local levels to make our country clean and green.
Dr. Vikram Gulati said that this is a unique initiative that involves all girls and that too at a far off place. He hoped that the drive will encourage all and also set an example for locals and tourists to keep their areas clean.
