JAMMU: Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Dilbag Singh, and Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), Dr Rubinder Kaur inaugurated Diwali Mela at Police Pariwar Petrol Pump at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu here on Sunday.
At the inaugural ceremony, ADGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh, ADGP(Coord.) Danesh Rana, Sarita Chouhan, Member Management Committee, J&K PWWA/PPSs and other PWWA Members Ar. Deepika Gupta, Radhika Sharma, Indu Sharma, Satvinder Kour and Anju Singh also graced the occasion.

Haseeb Mughal, CO IRP 15th Bn Mubassir Latifi Ameer, SO to DIG JKS Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, SSP Crime Jammu Rajeshwar Singh, CO IRP 14th Bn Anita Sharma, SSP Traffic Jammu Dr Koshal Kumar Sharma, AIG (Welfare), Rajinder Kumar Gupta, AIG(Personnel) Ramesh Kumar Angral , CO JKAP 8th Bn Tahir Sajad Bhat, CO IRP 18th Bn Kulbir Singh, SO to IGP Armed Jammu Manjit Kour, AIG (Comm.) Manoj Pandita, DyCO IRP 18th Bn Mukesh Kakkar, DyCO IRP 7th Bn Farooq Qesor Malik, DyCO IRP 15th Bn Madhu Bandral, and other police officers were also present on this occasion.
The aim of the Mela is to showcase the items produced by police welfare centres for sale.
Police welfare centres are producing different items including hand made products which are put on sale to generate resources for the welfare of police martyr families.
This year Police Welfare Centres of Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri and Police Departmental Store, Jammu have put up their stalls.
Different items put up for sale by these Centres includes various types of scented and decorative candles like votive candles, pillar candles, rose-shaped, marigold-shaped and sunflower-shaped candles, various kinds of light lamps (diyas), readymade garments, woollen kurtis, embroidered bed sheets, sweaters, napkins, thal covers, sweet box covers, saree covers, shawl bags, tea cozies, table clothes (Dastarkhan), 28-piece runners set for dining table, woollen items like baby sweaters, shawls, woollen stoles, grinded spices, dry fruits and other specialised items.
