JAMMU: Prof. Dr Vishal R Tandon of Government Medical College (GNC) Jammu, nominated from J&K as an National Expert Member among the Panel of eight Experts in Subject Expert Committee (SEC) constituted by Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW), Government of India (GoI).
CDSCO, the National Drug Regulatory Authority (NRA) of India, regulates safety, efficacy & quality of drugs, medical devices & cosmetics under Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 & Rules 1945 as well as regulates New Drugs & Clinical Trials Rules, 2019 in the country.
Prof. Dr Vishal R Tandon as a National Expert member of the SEC along with other seven members nominated from various specialties from the premier institutions of the country will be playing a role at national level under rule 100 of New Drugs & Clinical Trials Rules, 2019 with the approval of Ministry, to evaluate and advise Drug Controller General (India) on proposals of various categories of applications for approval of New Drugs, Investigational New Drugs, cellular biology based drug products/stem cell derived products and new medical devices including causality analysis, safety of drugs or any other technical matters which require expert advice.
