Encroachers attack Housing board team at Reasi; MD escapes unhurt

43 cops including 5 officials injured in stone pelting; 10 arrested

REASI: Five Government officials including three policemen were injured in stone pelting by some miscreants in Reasi, when J&K Housing Board jointly with District administration Reasi was trying to hand-over some plots to legal owners, who had paid all dues to Government way back in 2010.
Further, in the incident, the vehicle of Managing Director, J&K Housing Board got badly damaged during stone pelting while he escaped unhurt.
As per details, possession of land measuring 116 Kanals and 03 Marlas situated in village Gran, Reasi, duly allotted by Government, was taken over by the Housing Board on spot after proper demarcation on November 8, 1995 and subsequently developmental works on the land were taken up by the Board.
Meanwhile, Industries & Commerce Department also occupied 56 Kanals 8 Marlas of land leaving behind only 59 Kanals and 7 Marlas with the Board. Later, Housing Board issued demand notice vide No. HB/1855 dated September 8, 2010, No. HB/4342 dated January 29, 2011 and No. HB/5307-08 dated January 30, 2012 for allotment of plots in Housing Colony Reasi and subsequently offer letters were issued for 39 plots in favour of eligible applicants but till date possession could not be handed over to them for different reasons especially due to malafide litigation initiated by one Karnail Singh and others.
The Housing Board with full support of district administration Reasi conducted a daylong exercise and, despite stone pelting incident, handed over plots to allottees. The District Magistrate Reasi, Charandeep Singh and SSP Reasi, Shalinder Singh, ADC Reasi Abdul Sattar, ASP Reasi, Surjeet Bhagat, ACR Reasi, Tehsildar Reasi also supported the handing over of plots to legal owners by providing all facilities in shape of Magistracy and security cover.
Police has lodged FIR No. 222 against miscreants under sections 307, 353, 336, 427, 447, 147, 149 of IPC. 11 persons, including 3 women, were also arrested by Police who were identified as Kewal Singh Barotra, son of Omkar Singh Barotra, Karan Singh Barotra, son of Ram Singh Barotra, Deepak Singh Barotra, son of Bachiter Singh Barotra, Sidhant Singh Barotra, son of Suram Singh Barotra, Vakeel Singh Barotra, son of Ram Singh Barotra, Raj Singh Barotra, son of Krishan Singh Barotra, Raghubir Singh Barotra, son of Ram Singh Barotra, Ashok Singh Barotra, son of Ram Singh Barotra, Vimla Devi, wife of Karan Singh Barotra, Darshana Devi, wife of Kishor Singh Barotra and Reeta Balotra, wife of Raghubir Singh Balotra, all residents of Gran More, Tehsil and District Reasi. Other miscreants are at large and hunt has been launched to nab them.
